The CD-428 is made from high tensile laser-cut materials, which are fabricated by coded welders and then hot-dipped in a galvanised finish. This manufacturing process makes the dolly highly durable and long-lasting, with an expected lifespan of around 15 years under normal usage conditions with regular maintenance.

The CD-428 has a maximum weight capacity of 2500kg, making it capable of handling a wide range of Unit Load Devices (ULDs) commonly used in the aviation industry. It can be operated by one person, which is made possible by the foot-pedalled stops on the perimeter of the dolly.

The feedback from users has been very positive. Ramp operatives and management from LHR were involved in the design process of the bespoke dollies, which made the project exciting for all parties involved. The involvement of ramp staff in the design, manufacturing, and delivery of the dollies has instilled pride in the equipment and its performance.
